Top Costa Rican Destinations For You Bucket List

If you’re planning a trip to Costa Rica, you’re in good company, as this is one of the most visited locations in Central America all year round. The location’s comparatively cheaper cost of living, friendly locals, beautiful natural sceneries, good food, and great weather make it a popular destination for tourists from different parts of the world.

If you’re hoping to visit for the first time, here are some top Costa Rica destinations you should put on your list.

1 – Santa Teresa

The town of Santa Teresa is perched perfectly at the bottom of the Nicoya coast.

It looks a bit simplistic at first, as you’ll find a beach with a road. Nothing spectacular, right? Wrong! First, this destination is perfect for fishing lovers and, of course, any other activity you can enjoy at the beach. You’ll find fishing charters ready to take you on a ride to explore the sea and create an amazing fishing experience. Beyond Santa Teresa, you’ll find Costa Rica Fishing Charters in different locations in Costa Rica.

Second, the beach road is lined with surf shops, eateries, hostels, and yoga centers. The food is wonderful, the people appear laid back, and the atmosphere is calm and relaxing. This is your ideal location in Costa Rica if you love to hitchhike.

2 – Manuel Antonio

Midway down the pacific coast of Costa Rica, you’ll find Manuel Antonio’s hotspot huddled between the lush rainforest. This unmissable spot is famed for its eco-tourism. Like Santa Teresa, this location offers everything you’ll need in a perfect travel destination. You’ll find hostels, hotels, good food, friendly locals, a beautiful beach view, and more.

The hotels sit on cliff tops and offer a breathtaking panoramic view that sweeps the violent shorelines. But the Manuel Antonio National Park will draw you to this location – small enough to explore but packed with wildlife, including lazy two-toed sloths, capuchins, basilisks, red-back squirrel monkeys, swinging howler monkeys, and different animal species your typical geography channel does not show.

3 – Arenal Volcano National Park

No visit to Costa Rica is complete without experiencing the majestic view of a volcanic mountain. And one of the most popular ones is located in the Arenal Volcano National Park. The Arenal used to be one of the most striking and beautiful volcanoes in Costa Rica. And while it may have remained dormant for a while (which should be good news, right?), it’s still a majestic view to behold.

While you’re at the Arenal Volcano National Park, you might check out the nearby La Fortuna town. This is not your usual town, as you’ll find a tropical paradise with hot springs to relax your body after touring the Arenal Volcano site.

4 – Puerto Viejo

Puerto Viejo is another popular destination among young tourists and backpackers, thanks to the location’s never-ending party atmosphere, surfing, and great beaches. Unlike the laid-back and calm towns in other destinations, Puerto Viejo is lively every day, and you’ll most likely find an activity or two going deep into the night. So, if you like a town that hardly sleeps, this is where you should be.
